The Idyllic Dance, based on themes taken from the Intermezzo of Protomastoras, was written in 1924 on a commission from the Concerts Grassi. It was performed for the first time [with dancer] in Paris that same year under the French title Danse Idyllique (12 April 1924; Theatre de la Gaite Lyrique; Orchestre de l’ Association des Concerts Grassi; E. C. Grassi, conductor; Isabel Etchessarry, dancer).
