Poem, Spyros Matsoukas. 1928.
Matsoukas, Spyros (1870 – 1928), popular poet of fiercely nationalistic orientation. He became involved in the wars of liberation of the still enslaved regions of Greece (Cretan War of 1897, a.o.). He authored several collections of patriotic poems encouraging the fighting spirit of the Greek soldiers and devoted much effort to the care or their orphans.

Poem, Sotiris Skipis. 1948.
Skipis, Sotiris (1881–1952), poet and General Secretary of the School of Fine Arts in Athens. After many years in France, he adopted in his writing a light-hearted manner which “proved to be fatal to his work” according to Politis.
