They took the city (Piran tin Poli): A folksong belonging to the group of the demotic songs and lamentations for the Fall of Constantinople, which were widely sung after the conquest of the city by the Turks in 1453 (see also notes on Konstantinos Paleologos, The King Who Was Turned into Marble).
